The Department of Crop Production Technologies is the oldest department at Lviv National Environmental University. In 1901, the Department of Arable Farming and Crop Production was established at the Agricultural Academy in Dubliany. It had its own library, which by 1914 contained approximately 500 volumes and received specialized scientific periodicals from nearly all European countries. The departmental experimental field, covering 5 hectares, was used for research and practical training.
Since December 2023, the department has been headed by M.L. Tyrus, PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Crop Production Technologies. The main research areas include intensive cultivation technologies for sugar beet with a root yield of 1000 c/ha, and the development of cultivation technologies for amaranth under the conditions of the Western Forest-Steppe. Prof. Tyrus is the author of approximately 110 scientific and educational-methodological publications.
